My Educational Philosophy

MY EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I believe that teaching children is an honor. It is my responsibility as a teacher to have the knowledge, skills and the passion for teaching children. I believe as human beings we must always strive to be better and to learn more no matter what our age. I live my life with an adventurous spirit and know that as a teacher I must never stop exploring and learning. By my example, I hope to teach my students never to stop asking questions and to always seek more in themselves and life.
I believe that every child that walks in my room comes with unique life experiences and challenges. My role as an educator is to provide a place that respects the individual and expects it in return. I believe that the most effective educators are those that provide hands-on and meaningful curriculum. One that takes past experiences, challenges and prior knowledge into consideration when teaching children. I believe the learning environment should be a positive one where children are respected, able to ask questions and are active participants in their own education. I want my students to know they can take risks and not be afraid of failure.
I will design my curriculum around the latest findings and proven techniques. I believe in the power of technology and will include this as much as possible in my curriculum. I believe that as educators we are in a transitional period and must adapt our teaching methods. Teachers need to create relevant, engaging and appropriately challenging curriculum.
Educating students involves a lot more than the basics (math, language arts, science and social studies). I believe that we need to foster stewardship and life purpose. I believe that children need to know that these things are a lifelong process and with a positive attitude they can accomplish great things in their lives.
