About

My name is Deborah Sturgeon and I am currently living in Topeka, KS. I am married to my wonderful husband Wes and we have two children (Colton 9 and Renae 4). I have lived in several states including Hawaii, California, Texas, Kansas and Colorado. I spent most of my childhood in Danville, CA. I believe teaching has always been what I wanted to do. One of my earliest childhood memories is playing school with my little brother. I would role play as the teacher and my brother was the reluctant student. He complained that the game was boring and I always convinced him otherwise. In some form or another,  I have always loved teaching others.

I received my degree in Elementary Education from Washburn University in 1994. I pursued other endeavors and for the past 15 years worked in the wireless industry. It has only been recently however, that I have decided to return to teaching. I will be teaching 4th grade this year and am looking forward to a rewarding career. I have always and still do believe that teaching is one of the most important careers. I feel pride in being married to one of the best teachers. It is thru him and others that I have acknowledged the importance of teachers. My goal as I enter my first year of teaching is to provide a safe, accepting and enriching classroom environment. An environment where my students can be themselves, treat others with kindness, and never stop asking questions.
